Trainee Guidelines and Expectations

Welcome to Training! Below you will find the outline for:

  • grading
  • key areas to be aware of during training
  • and the documentation that will be turned in to management throughout your training.

Overview

Trainees are given a grade on 9 Key Areas of training daily. The grading scale is A, B, C, D, or F.

Take your training seriously. The grading is important and expected to be at a level of B in every Key area except speed by the end of the 5th day of training.

The 8 Key Areas

  • Attitude - Should be upbeat.
  • Punctuality - Trainees automatically receive an F if 10 or more minutes late.
  • Eagerness/Enthusiasm - Pitch in without instruction. Don't play on your phone or with a client's pet if there is work to be done.
  • Follows Instructions - Listen to what you are told and ask questions if you do not understand.
  • Cooperation - Cooperate through the learning process and do as your Training Manager advises.
  • Job Knowledge - Learn how to properly use the tools and equipment, what the different scopes are and when you need to contact the office.
  • Quality - Quality must be consistent and to standard.
  • Speed - Speed will be the last thing mastered, but will come with repetition.
  • Staging- How does the finished product look? Is the room tidy and neat?

Ideally, by the end of day 5, we want you to receive an A in all areas except speed. At a minimum, all areas, except for speed, need to be a B by the end of the first 5 days of training.

The Daily Training Form is the tool your Training Manager will complete daily to grade you and review your progress and areas of improvement.

At the end of the training period, each Training Manager that has worked with you will need to complete the Job Knowledge Eval in addition to the Daily Training Form. This form will break down specifically what you have had the opportunity to train on throughout the training.

A management member will check in with you at the end of the first and second weeks to see how you're doing. Use that opportunity to address any questions you have or areas of concern.

Once you have completed your training with acceptable performance and knowledge, you will be assigned 1-2 houses per day, we will slowly build your schedule. Don't worry, your first day or so out of training you may work with another seasoned technician, to gradually get you into working solo.
